Bethenny Frankel, breakout star of “Real Housewives of New York” and star of the hit Bravo reality show “Bethenny Getting Married?” may have planned a wedding, but planning a baby shower is a whole different story. To get the job done, Bethenny called in event planner Shawn Rabideau (who also did her wedding) to put together a spa themed baby shower to welcome the newest addition to her family, baby Bryn. Shawn knew that when she was pregnant “cake was all she had” so who better to do provide the baby shower desserts than Sweet E’s?!
After watching Bethenny trying to find the perfect wedding cake on “Bethenny Getting Married?” we knew pleasing her would be no easy task. But like always, Sweet E’s had the perfect plan! To go along with the spa themed shower, we decided to make a lemon cake with lemon cream cheese frosting and to top it off, a handmade, edible baby carriage. Under normal circumstances, Sweet E’s does not ship cakes because they are so fragile and we wouldn’t want any mishaps along the way, but we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bake for our favorite New York housewife! With that in mind, we sent our delicious treats back East and with our fingers crossed, we hoped for the best.
The cake arrived in New York the next day and when Julie, Bethenny’s assistant, and Shawn opened up the box, they called us to say it was a “caketastrophe”. Although the cake was still intact and the damage was easily fixable, the picture of Bryn had been torn. While Bethenny and crew were ready to call the cake mess a state of emergency, Sweet E’s came to the rescue and overnighted another edible picture of Bryn which arrived in one piece just in time for the party.
The 20 guests at the baby shower enjoyed a day of relaxation and sweets at Spa Chakra on 5th Ave in New York City. Bethenny loved the lemon cake and guests happily parted with a gift bag full of baby shower themed red velvet cake pops (Bethenny’s favorite) and baby carriage and rattle cookies.
Thanks Shawn and Julie for being cake decorators for the day! In the end, it went from cake-tastrophe to a cake-masterpiece and we are so glad we got to help welcome baby Bryn into the world!

Selena Gomez celebrated her 18th birthday On Air with Ryan Seacrest and naturally, Sweet E’s was there to bring her a sweet surprise.
Selena, who has plenty to celebrate with her new single “Round and Round” topping the charts and her movie “Ramona and Beezus” hitting it big at the box office, stopped by KIIS-FM to promote her recent projects and to celebrate her birthday. Of course no birthday is complete without a birthday cake so when our friends at KIIS-FM called us and said they needed a cake, we went straight to the drawing board!
We knew that Selena’s favorite colors are lime green and pink so it was a must to incorporate them into a two-layer cake. The bright yellow top layer was strawberries & cream and the pink bottom layer was our ever-popular red velvet with 3D yellow and orange flowers. And, since 18 is definitely something to celebrate, we topped the cake with an “18” and multi-colored confetti swirls to give it that extra girly kick! When we presented her with the cake, Selena was so excited and since she had skipped breakfast that day, she couldn’t wait to dig in! She also couldn’t believe that all of the decorations were edible, just one of Sweet E’s specialties.
All in all, it was a sweet way for Selena to wrap up her birthday and kick-off the celebration for her much-anticipated new movie. Happy Bday Selena!!

If winning Wimbledon wasn’t enough of an excuse to party, then Serena Williams’ new pad in Bel Air sure was! The party, planned by celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss, included many notable guests including Eve, Brandy, Kim Kardashian and her new NFL beau Miles Austin. Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier was also on hand for an exclusive look at Serena’s new digs. The carnival-themed event included an inflatable jousting ring, karaoke, and of course a custom cupcake tower from Sweet E’s! The tower included cupcakes decked out with fondant tennis rackets and #1’s in hot pink, green, and orange. We made Serena’s favorite cupcake flavors including Chocolate Lovers, Red Velvet, and Lemon. The tower was a gift to Serena from her sister Isha; she was so excited and absolutely loved it. She was super sweet and said she watched Cupcake Wars and was routing for me. Thanks Serena, we hope you had a sweeeet party!

MTV’s “The Hills” celebrated its wrap party on Saturday at the rooftop pool at the Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel and Sweet E’s was there to provide the cast, crew and guests with custom sweets!
We have baked for “The Hills” in the past and since our custom cookies and cake pops were such a big hit the first time, they came back for more! We made gift boxes for their gift bags and a cupcake tower for the event. Each gift box had cookies with “The Hills” logo and cast along with our signature cake pops. Since our picture cupcakes are always a favorite, we made a golden cupcake tower with a picture of each cast member on every cupcake. We were told that the cast had so much fun seeing their faces on the cupcakes and were so surprised by the logo cookies that “they wanted to save them forever.”
We are sad “The Hills” has come to an end, but we are excited to see what MTV will bring us next!

We had the pleasure of designing a baby shower tower with a monkey theme. We were given an invitation and designed the tower to match the theme. We custom colored all of the frosting and made little monkey faces to match the invite. We like alternating between monkey faces and sprinkles – not too many monkeys and not to few – just the right amount!  The couple didn’t have a name picked out yet so we left it a little open ended. It was so much fun to create and it turned out so deliciously adorable!  We also have great new cupcake towers made specially for us! They can hold between 12-150 cupcakes + a cake topper!  Check it out!!

Hi Sweets!
Last Thursday we did an amazing event at the rooftop of Madame Tussaud’s in Hollywood! It was really exciting because the A-Team movie premiere was happening on Hollywood Boulevard right below us so there was a lot of excitement on the roof!
We were asked to do a little contest during the night. We created a Miley Cyrus and Robert Pattinson cupcake tower, and the winner would actually get a statue at the wax museum in Hollywood! Both Miley and Rob already have statues at other Madame Tussaud’s, but this contest was for them to have a figure in Hollywood too!
For Miley we decided to go with Red Velvet and for Rob we did our Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It was a really tough call for most of the guests that night, with many doing several taste tests because they couldn’t decide which one to vote for! The outcome? Mr. Pattinson took the cake (no pun intended!) and will be the next figure to be made!
Check out the great pictures below and make sure you check out Madame Tussaud’s at Hollywood and Highland! Their rooftop is a great spot for a Sweet E’s cupcake filled event!!

Audrina Patridge, star of MTV’s “The Hills” turned 25 on Sunday, May 9th and Sweet E’s was there to help her celebrate! We found out Audrina was a huge lover of red velvet which just so happens to be one of our best sellers! So, we combined Audrina’s love for red velvet with her Mexican Fiesta birthday theme and came up with a fabulous cupcake tower just for her! We even matched the tower to the colors and design in her invitation – check it out!
Audrina’s boyfriend Ryan Cabrera serenaded her to a Justin Bieber song right before everyone sang “Happy Birthday” and she blew out her candles! It turned out great and we hear Audrina and Ryan loved it!
Enjoy the pictures below! Happy Birthday Audrina!!

I know it’s a little late to be posting about Passover, BUT better late than never and now you get a sneak peak to what Sweet E’s will offer for Passover next year.
Whenever I go home to Houston I always end up back in the kitchen where it all started. My mom is always a great sous chef, but she has passed on many of her assistant duties to my gorgeous little cousin Mari. She loves to bake with me and is really starting to get pretty good at it….we may have an addition to the Sweet E’s team one of these days. Right now I’m just glad she took over my Ma Nishtanah duties…..finally!
We baked some yummy treats this year. We always make Macaroons, chocolate covered matzoh, and then I try something different every year. This year we made chocolate covered Matzoh S’mores. They were layers of Matzoh, chocolate frosting, & marshmallow fluff dipped in chocolate – decadent, but sooo good.
BTW – Macaroons are a great treat to bake with kids. They are super easy and you are required to get messssssy.. Check out my pics!
